This past weekend, the Blue Marble Radical Cup North America traveled to scorching-hot Texas for a packed weekend of racing at the renowned Circuit of the Americas (COTA). Competitors saw the temperature climb above 100 degrees every day of the race weekend. Cock Oil branded ONE Motorsports’ veteran driver Gregg Gorski didn’t leave empty-handed as he took home a third-place podium finish as well as a trio of top-five results on the 20-turn, 3.27-mile Austin, Texas road course.
In race one, Gorski, started third and finished just shy of the podium in fourth place after a tough battle in the 104-degree heat. Due to the heat, the car’s electronics forced his ride to go into limp mode which had to be reset on three occasions. Slowing during the electronics recycling process, Gorski lost two positions while battling for the second step on the podium eventually finishing fourth. It was race two that brought Gorski back to the podium in the Pro 1500 class, making up one position during the race and crossing the line in third on route to the fastest lap of the race and accompanying pole position for the third and final race.
In race three, Gregg extended his streak of top-five finishes, piloting his #24 Cock Oil Lube branded Radical Cup entry into his second fourth-place finish of the weekend.
“This weekend was definitely a challenge,” explained Gorski. “The intense Texas heat really threw a curveball in the competition. I’m happy I could pull off a couple of top-fives and a podium for the ONE Motorsports team. I think being a veteran with a lot of experience at this track really played to my advantage this weekend. Hopefully, that’ll be the case at Laguna Seca as well.”
Gorski will race against his Pro 1500 competitors in the Blue Marble Radical Cup Series for one final round from September 8th through the 10th when the series holds its season finale at the 11-turn, 2.238-mile WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca circuit, racing alongside the NTT INDYCAR SERIES.
