Gregg Gorski Tackles Road America

It wasn’t the weekend that Gregg Gorski had hoped for at Road America. As a multi-time podium finisher in the Blue Marble Radical Cup North America program, Gorski was looking to add to his podium total at the 4.048-mile, 14-turn Road America. In three drama-filled races over three days, Gorski was able to battle inside the top-five but ended his weekend without hardware, the first time that has happened this season.

After completing the Promoter Test Day on Thursday, Gorski returned to the track Friday for a busy day of action that saw a total of four on-track sessions. Looking for the missing speed in practice one and two, qualifying saw the perennial front-runner qualify in the fourth position in the Pro 1500 class. Starting on the outside of row two, a turn-one melee ensued, and the ONE Motorsports driver was caught up in it all. Falling down the running order but never giving up, Gorski rocketed his way back through the field to salvage a fifth-place result.

Race two saw the Cock Oil and Smoke Buddy-backed driver finish sixth on track despite scoring the fourth fastest lap of the race. Working hard to keep pace around the 4.048-mile, 14-turn facility, Gorski would not have an opportunity to challenge for a better position late in the event as the yellow flag flew with four minutes remaining and was fully displayed until the end of the 40-minute timed race.

Race three on Sunday took place directly after the conclusion of the NTT INDYCAR Series event and it was another drama-filled affair. As soon as the race went green, the caution flag flew for more than five cars that were off between corners one and five. Unscathed in the melee, Gorski was able to push on in the race as he looked to capitalize on some others’ misfortunes. Racing against the young guns, Gorski held his own again in the top-five finishing fifth and adding some additional points to his championship total.

“Not the weekend I was hoping for but also not a disaster either,” explained Gorski. “I am looking forward to our next Radical Cup event in Canada and look forward to the challenge of driving my way back to the podium.”

Next up for Gregg Gorski and the Blue Marble Radical Cup North America program is a trip north of the border to Toronto, Canada to compete in the Streets of Toronto over the July 14-16 weekend.
